At Dedicated K9, I am dedicated to providing high-quality training for your dogs to get them well-trained, but more importantly, happy. During my training sessions with your dog, I prioritize and incorporate play as a major part of the training. This increases motivation and helps to bring out your dog’s instinctive play and prey drive, making the training fun for them. When a dog enjoys the training, they learn much faster and become much more dedicated to learning and doing their jobs. Using play allows us to simulate really high-stakes real-world scenarios to gain control of the dogs even when they are in their most crazy, high-drive state. This also helps the dog to enjoy the behavior itself. When this happens, it is called being self-reinforcing/rewarding. This makes the behavior much more reliable and persistent, which removes the reliance on using external motivation (e.g., food, toy, leash) to motivate the dog to do something. Of course, that is not always practical to achieve for some behaviors, but it certainly makes a difference in many of them, especially recall!
